Artist's Statement

Manifestation started out as a random form I generated by a mathematical algorithm known as "strange attractors". I then took the generated form and colourized it, processed it enhanced and tweaked it until I had the final result seen in the image.

To me the image symbolizes a burst of energy bleeding through from "the other side". A kind of a ghost of a flower. The image supposedly pictures the point in time where for a very brief moment the energy burst forms a visual shape before it vanishes.

The "manifestation" has a mathematically perfect shape to it and yet it has enough organic qualities and scattered light to almost make it look like a nightly photograph.

On my giglée printing process I use matte black ink to generate a very high density black tone. As a result the background of this image looks almost like velvet when printed. The effect is completed after mounting under a glass, which gives it further depth.
